Exclusive: Information received from Mali indicates that the security situation in the country has become tense due to conflicts of the Malian army, political entities, and the Russia-aligned Wagner group against the other armed groups, nmaely as Al-Qaeda-backed JNIM militants.
On August 1, the armed group Jama'at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimin carried out an attack against Russian-backed forces and Malian soldiers in the village of Djiminka, located in the Mopti region of Mali. The attack reportedly resulted in the deaths of about ten Malian soldiers and the capture of three others. Mopti is situated in central Mali along the Niger River, playing a significant role in the region's agriculture and transportation.
The armed group Jama'at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimin, which fights against Russian-backed governments and local authorities in Mali and Burkina Faso, has started transferring fighters from the Sahel region of West Africa to combat the Wagner group and local governments following the latest decision by the military council of the said militants group…
